Reggie Bush might look good in a Dolphins uniform

It's Friday, and we're making lockout progress left and right. Today seems like a good day to just pretend that none of this is happening, and talk about real football things with real implications about what might happen on the playing field in 2011.

And there's no better place to start than with popular socialite and occasional football player Reggie Bush. On "Total Access," the NFL Network's Jason La Canfora made it sound like the Dolphins would be the team most interested in a cost-reduced Reggie Bush.

Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network said Wednesday night that the Dolphins "might actually set the market for Reggie Bush" if the New Orleans Saints release him as expected.

He added the Dolphins are "looking for some sizzle, Reggie brings it."

Ah, yes. It reminds me of that tried-and-true NFL saying: "Sizzle wins championships." I think Bill Parcells coined that phrase. Maybe Chuck Knoll. I can't remember.

Anyway, I think it's more likely that the Dolphins are looking for a third-down change-of-pace guy, and if you remove the big price tag, Bush is a somewhat attractive option. He's still currently a Saint, but it's unlikely that they'll keep him around at his current salary. Most expect that he'll be released.

At that point, the Dolphins would make sense. Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams are history, presumably leaving the job to Daniel Thomas, a rookie second-round draft pick out of Kansas State. At 6-2, 228, Thomas can catch the ball, but he doesn't have great breakaway speed and is thought of as more of a between-the-tackles ball carrier. One can imagine Bush being a nice complement to that.

I just like thinking about what it might mean for the Dolphins in 2011, and potentially, my fantasy team in 2011. I'm going to start letting myself think about these things. It's time.
