Martin Truex Jr. gets his wish; part of his crew is fired

Well, we now know Martin Truex Jr. means business on the radio.

After a slow stop that resulted in a lug nut problem and ended his chances at a win during Saturday night's race at Richmond, Truex lashed out at his team in frustration, saying that they were all fired.

Well, on Tuesday, changes were made. Starting at Darlington on Saturday, Truex will have new tire carriers and changers.

"We've seen significant improvement in the overall performance of the No. 56 NAPA Auto Parts Toyota in 2011," Steve Hallam, executive vice president of Michael Waltrip Racing, said in a release. "With our impressive speed comes the added pressure of the entire team to perform. As we know, the No. 56 has experienced several challenges on pit road and we feel the need to intervene."

Truex led 12 laps at Richmond and was up front until the pit issue relegated him to a 27th-place finish.

Two of the new crew members will come from the Pastrana-Waltrip Racing Nationwide team while two will come from Michael Waltrip Racing's backup team. Largely unknown and/or nonexistent, backup pit crews have come into focus after Jimmie Johnson's crew's struggles at the end of last season.
