While many professional sports teams put clauses in their players' contracts prohibiting them from risking injury by engaging in various physical activities, Valencia seem to actively encourage these sporting gambles with the midseason team excursions they choose. Last season it was a day of rafting and zip-lining, this season -- ski trip!
While an afternoon sipping hot chocolate by a roaring fire in a ski lodge would certainly be a great way for footballers to relax in the middle of a long season and do a bit of team bonding, the Valencia boys bundled up in their club branded ski gear and hit the slopes on Wednesday. Luckily, no one tore a knee ligament on the slalom trail or smashed into a tree in what appears to be a bit of fog.
Valencia are yet again a distant third in La Liga behind Barcelona and Real Madrid, so maybe these trips are just a way to stave off frustration. I'm sure the players can't wait until they go cliff diving next season.
