Brazilian keeper scores winner, injures himself trying to celebrate

Sport Recife goalkeeper Saulo headed in an added-time winner against Vitoria on Monday night and before he could unleash his euphoria, he tore his ACL and will now be out for at least six months.

From the AP:

Tests on Wednesday showed that goalkeeper Saulo, who was playing because regular starter Magrao was injured, will need surgery because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Saulo left his area Monday to give Sport Recife a 2-1 victory over Vitoria with a header from a corner, but he badly twisted his right knee as he sprinted behind the goal toward cheering fans.

It was a freak injury and pretty much ruined Saulo's big moment (let's just hope he hadn't been devoting all his free time to practicing an elaborate celebration the last few months), but the weird gets weirder.

Sport had already used all three of their substitutions, so they had to use a striker in goal for the final moments. And he even made a save.
